The life and career of John MacLeod is intricately bound to the history of jazz and big band music in Toronto. A native of this city, he took a very early interest in jazz and by the time he began studying the trumpet at age 12 was already an aficionado of New Orleans, Chicago and swing styles of the music. His earliest local hero was trumpeter "Trump" Davidson and by his early teens he was attending t.v. recording sessions where he would be amazed by studio greats such as Guido Basso, Moe Koffman and Teddy Roderman. Ezra Beber Quartet, Jazz Standards The Ezra Beber Quartet is a new band which combines New York and Toronto jazz musicians. Each of the members have played with Ezra extensively, and he is looking forward to bringing this particular group of people together. Past performances include The Rex Hotel Jazz and Blues Bar , The Jazz Bistro , The Jazz Room, and The Montreal Jazz Festival . He is a graduate of both Mohawk College and Humber College’s music programs, was a featured emerging artist as part of Jazz FM 91.1’s Jazzology program, and performs with the 2018 Juno award nominated Brad Cheeseman Group .

The Feel Good Family Band, post-bop / experimental folk / edgy pop / dada / free improv The Feel Good Family Band plays mostly original songs that reflect the music experiences of our three generations. We are Wally Brooker (saxophones, vocals), Cassie Norton (violin, guitar, ukelele, vocals), and Yoshi Maclear Wall (bass, vocals). Wally’s jazz compositions range from outside post-bop to modal folk inspired jazz. Cassie’s songs range from experimental folk and edgy pop, to climate anthems and hymns to the rocks, waters, flora and fauna of the Canadian Shield. Yoshi’s situationist dada compositions, while leaving lots of room for free improvisation, contain instructions for performers which surprise and delight listeners.
