A-TRANE PRÄSENTIERT: ANDREAS SCHMIDT& FRIENDS HEUTE MIT: EINTRITT FREI & ENTRANCE FREE Auf dem unteren Link zur Facebookseite von Andreas Schmidt erfahren Sie, wer alles an diesem Konzerttag auftreten wird. Um die Spontanität zu erhalten, was die Montagskonzerte von Andreas Schmidt & Friends ausmacht, werden die Musiker kurzfristig bekannt gegeben, Facebook Andreas Schmidt It´s me, the Monday A-Trane pianist Andreas Schmidt . Since 1995 I played here about 900 wonderful & surprising improvised happenings in music with lots of friends like Jay Clayton, Hayden Chisholm, Dave Douglas, Walter Norris, Mark Murphy, Till Brönner, Sebastian Merk, Andreas Edelmann, Jan Roder, Connie Crothers, Max Andrzejewski, Andy Fite etc.. Here’s what Richard Williams wrote about me in his blog: « If you’re ever at a loose end in Berlin on a Monday night, my advice would be to head for A-Trane, the jazz club in Charlottenburg, where Andreas Schmidt, a pianist, composer and teacher at the city’s Jazz Institut, holds a weekly free-admission session featuring a changing cast. Schmidt is a fine pianist, the salient features of his playing located somewhere between the Paul Bley of the mid-’60s and the Chick Corea of «Now He Sings, Now He Sobs». You might get an idea of his approach if I say that his first album was made (in 1995) with Lee Konitz, and a later one comprised a duo with Gary Peacock. His music is cerebral, but on the evidence I’ve heard it never lacks wit and humanity. » Richard Williams Andreas Schmidt, Piano

Dana Masters « Real Good Mood » Feat : Cian Boylan-Dave Redmond-Darren Beckett On May 3rd 2024 the debut album of the American soul and jazz singer, resident in Ireland, Dana Masters Real Good Mood was released. « Our world is on fire. Global current events, devastating developments stripping humanity. It’s more important than ever that we don’t allow the pain and suffering of the world to be the sole narrative of our lives. There is heartbreak and injustice in abundance all around us but there is also good and generosity of spirit, and we must recommit to celebrating the small things, re-learn how to take joy and share that joy freely with ourselves, our people and our collective everyday. [Even though, even still – I’m in a Real Good Mood .» This is Dana’s first solo project since touring with Van Morrison as featured vocalist. The first single, „Rising,“ written and produced by Dana Masters and Cian Boylan , was released on January 12, 2024. Setting a tone for the album, Dana reflects: “ Even if what I see with my eyes is a horrible day, the sun still rises and sets. The sun will still keep doing its job regardless of circumstance. In order for our spirit to survive, in a soulful way – “Rising” is a reminder to us, living with this awareness, to respond intentionally: to magnify the joy in life, to create space and time to romanticise life. If you have to, create reasons to use the good China, to pop a bottle of champagne. Our lives depend on it !” Her brand new album is in the making. She expects the release in 2026! Dana Masters Dana Masters, a soul/jazz singer and songwriter, was born and raised in the deep south of the United States of America by a family who were deeply involved in the Civil Rights Movement of the 50’s and 60’s. Granddaughter of a celebrated Civil Rights Activist, Dana’s music reflects the joy, sorrow, pain and delight of the human experience. Loved by global audiences her work is equal parts meaningful and memorable, full of joy and inspiration. Residing in Ireland, Dana fell into the Irish and UK Jazz scene and never looked back. Her unique sound of jazz, infused with the music she grew up on (soul, funk, r&b and gospel), connects deeply to those listening. A seasoned performer, Dana has performed for the Pope, President Clinton and Secretary Clinton, Tony Blair as well as presented a major music documentary on BBC, My Name Is Ottilie. In addition to her growing solo career, Dana spent 7 years touring with Van Morrison as a featured vocalist. « Dana’s wide-ranging musical influences are evident through her own unique sound. Her vocal dexterity spaces the spectrum from deeply meditative to soaring, soulful resonant highs .» Van Morrison « A jazz singer of real note » All About Jazz Dana Masters – Vocals Cian Boylan – Piano Dave Redmond – Double Bass Darren Beckett – Drums Dana Masters Fotos©Cherith Loper
