Trombone Shorty got his name playing trombone in second lines when the horn was bigger than his body. He has defined his career by adding mark on the continuing evolution of New Orleans music – from the original brass band to the Meters to Big Freedia – making funky music with bounce, roll and a little bit of jazz. He rolls into the Filene Center at Wolf Trap with something of a now annual package tour showcasing sounds of the south. Opening are Floridian swamp rock band JJ Grey & Mofro as well as New Orleans funkateers Dumpstaphunk.
