That 60’s soul feel with a modern blues/jazz twist. Taking classic soul/blues/jazz tunes from the 60’s and 70’s, and re-interpreting modern songs in that style The 2nd Floor Gastown offers Live Music on Thursdays - Sundays, open during Dinner Service from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Guests may seat for both sets depending on availability and manager discretion. Keyboardist and composer/songwriter JD Rich (Jared Richardson) delivers a supercharged evening of melodic originals, reimagined pop covers, and memorable themes from movies & video games, tied together with a groovy funk/fusion sound. Featuring Colin Sankey on bass and Trent Otter on drums. Jared is from Victoria, BC, and currently based in Vancouver. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music (2016), where he majored in Electronic Production & Design. Formed in 2004, the Jodi Proznick Quartet has become one of Canada’s most celebrated jazz ensembles, earning multiple awards and two JUNO nominations. The group features Jodi Proznick - bass, Tilden Webb -piano, Nick Bracewell - drums, and Jon Bentley (saxophones). The evening will feature original works from the quartet’s JUNO-nominated albums Foundations and Sun Songs, alongside inspired arrangements of music by Joni Mitchell, Duke Ellington, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Kenny Wheeler and more — a vibrant celebration of jazz tradition and innovation.
