Band Members: Arman Sangalang - Tenor Saxophone Dave Miller - Guitar Ethan Philion - Bass Devin Drobka - Drums ⊹ Chicago-based saxophonist and composer Arman Sangalang is an up-and-coming jazz musician. Drawing inspiration from Chicago’s genre-bending creative music scene, his music ranges from contemplative to groove-oriented. His current project—the Arman Sangalang Quartet—brings freewheeling, fiery improvisations to audiences. His debut record, Quartet (2023, Calligram Records), was awarded Best First Release as Leader by RadioRadioX. Sangalang is set to release his sophomore album Waypoints on Calligram Records in August 2026. Sangalang has had the honor of sharing the stage with notable jazz artists such as Jon Irabagon, Clark Sommers, Bruce Forman, and Sylvia Cuenca. Band Members: Park Evans - Guitar Greg Schutte - Drums Dan Carpel - Bass ⊹ Sought after for his command of the guitar, his unique sound, and his soulful approach, Park Evans is a native of Ithaca, New York and a former resident of Minneapolis. He has performed with multiple acts in the Midwest, including bassist Chris Morrissey (Norah Jones, Mark Giuliani); Corey Palmer & Love Trade; New Primitives; cello duo Michelle Kinney & Jacqueline Ultan; guitarist Mike Michel; and legendary bassist Anthony Cox (Stan Getz, John Scofield). He now calls Seattle home and performs around North America with vintage swing/R&B outfit Birch Pereira & the Gin Joints. Ethan Ostrow’s project blends elements of funk, rock and folk with something completely new, featuring some of the Twin Cities’ most accomplished and versatile musicians. “Seriously funked-up...Ostrow's compositions are dynamic, passionate, and gorgeous” East Bay Express⁠ Soaring melodies, passionate solos, head-banging grooves, intimate and reflective ballads all define the music, which can be described as a blend between Snarky Puppy, Ghost Note, the Brian Blade Fellowship, and Ethan’s unique compositional voice. Ethan Ostrow is a Minneapolis-based pianist, composer, and singer. A recent transplant from NYC, Ethan has quickly established himself across genres in Minnesota, performing and recording with the Snapped Open Mic band, Ashley DuBose, Adam Bohanan, Omar Abdulkarim, Kathleen Johnson, Abinnet Berhanu, Dakota Andersen, Leslie Vincent, Toussaint Morrison, Thoughtcast, the Twin Cities Latin Jazz Orchestra, and more. Classic Great American Songbook Jazz This evening of songs born in the decade of the 1920s will include the slang, the stories, the songwriters and the singers of that era that shimmied and bootlegged and celebrated leaving the Great War behind. Hear classics like “ Blue Skies”, “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” and “Fascinatin’ Rhythm”. This decade was rich in Broadway shows, Tin Pan Alley hits and songwriters such as Irving Berlin and the Gershwins were also “going Hollywood”.
