Sharing a love of the great instrumental organ trios, the three members of this Vancouver band got together in late 2021 to play in-the-pocket music, Organist Erik Reimers, guitarist Jim Flaming and drummer Marke Andrews acknowledge hallmark names of the past - Jimmy Smit, Brother Jack McDuff, Richard Groove Holmes - and perform some songs of the masters, but they also look to open up the trio to new directions. That can mean laying a shuffle beat on a Stevie Wonder tune, turning a Nina Simone song into a rousing gospel number, morphing swing to Afro-Cuban, pop-rock to swing.
