Live Jazz in Vancouver

Get ready for another amazing night of music featuring some of Vancouvers best at 2nd Floor Gastown. June 30 we have none other then MC4 gracing our stage! Mark Campbell plays guitar in this incendiary and adventurous quartet. Mark is a long standing performer from the Vancouver area and mixes elements of rock, jazz and reggae into his playing. An in demand and seasoned performer, Jason Overy holds down drum kit duties with the MC4. He has developed curriculum in percussion, hand drumming and Taiko drumming and teaches music in a variety of settings. Upright bassist Russell Scholberg brings his many years of expertise and creativity to the MC4. He is a veteran musician and teacher from the Vancouver scene having performed with many different and diverse groups. Multi instrumentalist Laurence Santos adds tenor saxophone and keyboards to the group. A performer, composer and teacher, Lzo brings his talented gifts to the West Coast scene, recording and performing out of Vancouver. The 2nd Floor Gastown offers Live Music on Thursdays - Sundays, open during Dinner Service from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Guests may seat for both sets depending on availability and manager discretion. Keyboardist and composer/songwriter JD Rich (Jared Richardson) delivers a supercharged evening of melodic originals, reimagined pop covers, and memorable themes from movies & video games, tied together with a groovy funk/fusion sound. Featuring Colin Sankey on bass and Trent Otter on drums. Jared is from Victoria, BC, and currently based in Vancouver. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music (2016), where he majored in Electronic Production & Design. Bonnie is a trumpet player, vocalist, and composer based in Vancouver. Her singing is smoky and rich, and her trumpet playing a call to the early jazz styles of New Orleans while remaining fresh, inventive, and playful. Bonnie has one foot rooted in jazz heritage and one foot stepping forward creating a fresh new voice in the musical landscape. Ballads, Bossas, and Blues are a Vancouver-based band formed in 2016 to play the compositions of bandleader Jake Huse. They combine contemporary jazz with influences from reggae, African and groove music and often explore polyrhythms, polymetre and odd-time signatures. They have released two EP’s on Bandcamp, with the latest, 2, in 2024. Cory Weeds is an expressive saxophonist with a warm and impactful sound rooted in jazz tradition. Jazz aficionados know that Cory, when playing tenor or alto sax, conveys an unerring sense of swing. Recording more than 20 albums as a leader that document his dynamic saxophone playing on both hard-swinging tunes and gentle ballads, he has shared stages and recording studios with the likes of Bill Charlap, Joey DeFrancesco, Champian Fulton, Jeff Hamilton, Harold Mabern, Roy McCurdy, Brad Turner, and many other high-level artists. He’s a fearless musician who embraces a broad range of playing situations and then delivers with performances that shine. Jerry Weldon is one of today's leading proponents of Soul Jazz who represents the 'bar-walkin', hard-blowing, tenor legends in our contemporary American Jazz scene. Weldon who is New York born-and-raised musician, became a charter member and featured soloist in Harry Connick Jr. 's newly formed big band in 1990. He was seen daily on Connick’s daytime television program HARRY throughout its two-year run. In 2025 the two saxophonists went into the studio and recorded Cory Weeds Meets Jerry Weldon.
