The Mallet Band is a group of percussionists dedicated to combining pitch and rhythm into something much more than a primal caveman celebration. he Mallet Band is a group of percussionists dedicated to combining pitch and rhythm into something much more than a primal caveman celebration. (Although we do like caveman celebrations…) We literally strike the instruments with mallets in order to create music that resonates through several ethnic idioms, Latin, Jazz, Brazilian, African, Jamaican. Onstage will be a concert marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, steel drums, a one-of-a-kind bass marimba and a drummer. Also included are orchestra bells, as well as crotales — which is not something you want to eat with a salad. All instruments are played acoustically, no electronics needed.

IVY ROOM PRESENTS TUESDAY JUNE 16TH—ETHAN BUCKNERSCOTT ELLIOTT FERRETERHATS OFF—7:00 pm doors / 7:30 pm showADV TIX AVAILABLE - $23 DOOR—IVY ROOM860 San Pablo Avenue, Albany • 21+—ETHAN BUCKNER—Los Angeles indie folk/pop troubadour, activist, and community builder Ethan Buckner wants you to see who he really is: his traumas and triumphs, anxieties and hopes. His debut LP Treading Water, produced by grammy-nominee Justin Glasco (Paris Paloma, Lone Bellow), weaves between moments both intimate and anthemic, exploring struggles that are both deeply personal and unavoidably collective. Following a whirlwind year of touring and releases, including a headline debut at LA’s iconic Troubadour, Ethan and Justin are hard at work on his second LP. The project is Ethan’s reckoning and redemption, written after Ethan found himself immobilized for months in early 2025 following a severe back injury. His new work casts an invitation to embrace vulnerability as a source of power.SCOTT ELLIOTT FERRETER—Scott Elliott Ferreter, known for his duo, The Feelings Parade, and as a member of beloved Northern-California band, MaMuse, has a history of laying it all on the line. His devotion to music, itself, has him comfortable wearing many hats (songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist), though he is most at home behind the mic. His songs take on topics of ambitious depth—impermanence, healing, death, and ancestry— yet his humor and realness bring it all together with gentleness and easeful reverence.Having played enormous stages like the Masonic (as a special guest of Glen Hansard), as well as the Fox Theater in Oakland, he’s also stayed rooted with a history of playing state prisons and busking on the street. All said and done, he holds a rare kind of presence on whatever stage he steps onto.HATS OFF—Hats Off is a dynamic song writing duo with a passion for eclectic genres and sweet harmonies. Molly Fisher and Maceo Hastings-Porro embrace the free-flowing coastal vibes of their home Santa Cruz to bring a soulful, silly, and moving auditory experience.
