Late-Night Jazz Shows in Portland

We are proud to partner with Portland's Waterfront Blues Festival to offer a series of late night afterparties celebrating the legacy of American music and the blues! Doors: 8:30pm Show: 9:30pm OKONSKI Okonski is the eponymous piano trio led by Asheville, North Carolina–based pianist Steve Okonski, featuring Michael Isvara Montgomery on upright bass and Aaron Frazer on drums. Often recording fully improvised performances directly to tape, the trio’s music has been described as meditative, introspective, and ethereal. Okonski’s compositions emphasize space and melody, pairing expressive piano lines with subtle rhythm and texture. A longtime collaborator with Durand Jones & The Indications, he has also worked with Say She She, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Scott McMicken, among others. All three Okonski releases, including 2025’s Entrance Music are out now on Colemine Records. Notes on Seating: Open seating, may be limited or standing room only. First come, first seated. TICKETS $30 | 21+ PLEASE Henry Ivie-Gardner- Guitar, Compositions Hailey Niswanger- Saxophone, Flute Malaika Friedman- Piano Garrett Baxter- Bass Micah Hummel- Drums 23 year old guitarist/composer, Henry Ivie-Gardner returns to the 1905 debuting an entirely new set of original compositions featuring saxophonist and floutist, Hailey Niswanger (MAE.SUN). Join them for an evening of storytelling through original compositions with dynamic improvising, soulful melodies, and danceable rhythms, all woven into a vibrant tapestry of sound and texture. Henry Ivie-Gardner is a guitarist, composer, producer, and recent graduate from University of Oregon in jazz studies. He has collaborated with musicians such as Nicole McCabe, Telemakus, Braxton Cook, as well as many others in the space of contemporary improvised music. Henry strives to offer a unique and sincere voice to the scene both as a guitarist and as a composer; exploring music through world-building and storytelling, inspired by musicians such as Bill Frisell, Esperanza Spalding, Julian Lage, and many others.
