Eric Alexander

Second Floor Music traces Alexander's tenor studies through William Paterson College, where his teachers included Harold Mabern, Joe Lovano, and Rufus Reid. It identifies Straight Up as his first leader record and documents his continuing New York work, including regular appearances at Smoke.[1]

Alexander's catalog combines long-running work with the sextet One for All and leader groups of different sizes. Giant Step Arts recorded his all-original chordless trio with Doug Weiss and Johnathan Blake live at the Jazz Gallery for Leap of Faith, while Like Sugar places his tenor and soprano in a quartet with David Hazeltine, Dennis Carroll, and George Fludas.[1][2][3]
