This concert will feature classic Monk and Mingus themes, with a number of styles; songs to dance to, intimate ballads and sophisticated masterpieces. Oscar Bruten’s Septet features some of the brightest upcoming minds in the Melbourne music scene. The ensemble aims to explore the last 100 years of jazz tradition, allowing the listeners to experience the rich history of jazz music. Each set of music features brand new arrangements by Oscar Bruten, aiming to transform these styles, blending the tradition of jazz music with modern language and styles.
