The Vital Organs , with Steve Ashworth organ, Easel Kandola-McNicholas guitar and Matt Skeaping drums, started life as a South London instrumental jazz trio in 2019. But with the addition of vocalist Jenny Howe, a highly impressive singer who in addition to work with the BBC Big Band, Shakatak and many other live shows at prestige venues also includes numerous film, TV and voiceover credits on her CV, the band’s range has expanded to include pop tunes from the 1960’s to the present, as well as their own originals. Drummer Matt, who landed his first professional jazz gig at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 1988 (with the young piano prodigy Simon Mulligan) has performed around the world, from Shanghai, Norway, and Morocco to several years in the US, working with a diverse range of acclaimed musicians including Phil Robson, Liam Noble, TJ Johnson, Adrian Cox and many more. Both guitarist Easel and organist Steve trained at the prestigious Guildhall School and also bring a wealth of experience gained in various settings to this appealing and entertaining project. And be on the lookout for potential special guests who may drop by!
