A rare one-off performance & first meeting as a trio between guitarist David Preston , bassist Robin Mullarkey and drummer Gary Husband. David Preston has been described by the Guardian as “Virtuosic” and Time Out as “A superb modern jazz guitarist”. A finalist at the Montreux International Guitar competition, he released his 2-part debut album ‘Purple / Black’ on Whirlwind Recordings in 2023/24. Robin Mullarkey is known for his involvement with the UK broken beat movement, producing two ground-breaking LPs fusing his academic jazz background with the contemporary dance aesthetic in the band Brotherly. He has recently been touring with Jacob Collier & Donny McCaslin. Gary Husband is one of a rare breed of musicians in that his expression is divided equally in his capacity as a drummer, pianist and keyboardist of international repute. For close to four decades, Gary has worked alongside a vast and eclectic range of celebrated musicians including John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce, Gary Moore & many others. The trio will perform a unique repertoire of originals tailored for the occasion, choice interpretations of favourite classics and spontaneous improvisations - truly not to be missed. "[Preston] Reimagining jazz – with modern invention and creative innovation" Jazz Journal; “UK's hottest jazz guitarist” Musica Terra Magazine (Japan); “Bassist Robin Mullarkey has been wowing audiences for years... perfect groove and a bass tone to die for.” No Treble; "A relentlessly inventive drummer with a voice all of his own" Jazzwise; "One of the most dynamic and musical drummers of our time" Rhythm Magazine Photo, David Preston by Miguel Altunaga Jr; Gary Husband by Birgit Fostervold; Robin Mullarkey by Carl Hyde.

Perhaps best-known as a member of the critically acclaimed duo “Binker & Moses” - who received a 2015 MOBO Award, a 2016 Parliamentary Jazz Award for ‘Best Newcomer’ and two 2016 Jazz FM Awards for Breakthrough and Best UK Jazz Act - saxophonist Binker Golding is a superb player of fascinating contradiction and diversity. His two albums to date (with a third due shortly) have further cemented his reputation as an important voice on the UK jazz scene. Tonight he makes a welcome return to the Club to “play some of my favourite jazz standards and traditional blues numbers” alongside Billy Adamson guitar, Daniel Casimir bass & Jamie Murray drums. “Surprisingly straight up and filled with wonderfully lyrical flourishes" London Jazz News; “…fresh and invigorating, continuing the best and most innovative of the hard-bop style” Jazz Journal; “None of the new...improviser-composer…saxophonists on London's underground scene are more accomplished than Binker Golding” All About Jazz
Much-loved singer-songwriter Rebecca Hollweg has performed extensively both in the UK and abroad, including festivals at Rochefort en Accords in France, Vamos Festival in Crete and 5 and 55 Festival, Wijk an See in Holland plus numerous other gigs in France and Germany as well as the likes of the South Bank Centre, Union Chapel and Latitude Festival in the UK. Playing live, she is open and unpretentious and as one listener said ‘it feels like she is reaching out and enfolding you in a warm embrace’. The gig tonight marks the 25th Anniversary of her very first album "June Babies" and fittingly she will be appearing with the original lineup from that album: her husband Andy Hamill bass, Mike Outram guitar, Phil Peskett piano and Tom Gordon drums. Having now released four critically acclaimed albums Rebecca’s singing and her uplifting, melodic songs have long been celebrated and it's with great pleasure we welcome her once again back to the Club. “Just a beautiful sound, great vibe…absolutely stunning” BBC Radio 2; “Carole King couldn’t have come up with a better...song” Uncut; “A gifted tunesmith” Q Magazine; “'Exquisite vocal” Guardian

Mim Grey is a charismatic singer/songwriter in the pop/Americana/country style. A regular with Acid jazz legends The Brand New Heavies she has co-written tracks with Kylie Minogue and worked with, and received praise from, the likes of Paul McCartney and Tom Jones. Her wonderful, charismatic, country-influenced songs are matched by her terrific voice, warm and soulful with an effortless range. With three highly acclaimed albums to her name, the most recent produced by and featuring iconic UK guitarist Robbie McIntosh (Pretenders, Paul McCartney, Norah Jones) and her music topping charts around the globe (including the Nashville HotDisc charts), Country Music in Britain said hers is ‘one of the finest voices in the world’. In addition to Mim on guitar and vocals, her band this evening features the aforementioned Robbie McIntosh on guitar, along with Stephen Darrell Smith piano (Dire Straits, Kenny Jones/Small Faces, Russ Ballard/Argent), Gavin Scott bass and Steven Vintner drums – a tremendous lineup! Performing music from Mim’s previous recordings, as well as songs from her (yet to be named!) upcoming album, we can’t get enough of this wonderful singer. “sultry singer-songwriter” Maverick Magazine; "my favourite singer" Sir Tom Jones; "the most beautiful voice to come out of the UK in a very long time " Michael Ball
Tomeka Reid / cello Mary Halvorson / guitar Jason Roebke / bass Tomas Fujiwara / drums "Tomeka Reid is simply a singular and generational talent. An acclaimed cellist, she is also an edgy, daring composer who has combined her love of different musical genres into a syncretic blend that defines her compositional language." New York City Jazz Record Delighted to welcome the great Tomeka Reid Quartet to OTO, following the release of dance! skip! hop! on Out Of Your Head Records. On dance! skip! hop! the quartet sounds more refined than ever, but also takes chances that only a band that has logged countless hours touring together can, with a playful spirit that the title suggests. They seem to one-up themselves with each successive album, and the release of dance! skip! hop! continues this trend. Don't miss! "Reid's quartet delivers one of its most unfettered, confident explorations of their high-spirited sound." DownBeat Cellist and composer Tomeka Reid is one of the most original, versatile, and curious musicians to have emerged from Chicago’s bustling jazz and improvised music scene over the last decade. Now based in New York, her distinctive melodic sensibility, usually braided to a strong sense of groove, has been featured in many distinguished ensembles over the years. Alongside her busy profile as a bandleader (the Tomeka Reid Quartet, Hear in Now), this versatility has seen her greatly in demand as a collaborator not only amongst her peers, but also an older generation, including figures such as Anthony Braxton and Roscoe Mitchell (with whom she currently works in the Art Ensemble of Chicago). https://www.tomekareid.net/

Doors 7:30 PM, Music 8:00 PM - 1 set of music Line-up: Anatole Muster - Accordion Hugo Piper - Bass guitar King Ike-Elechi - Drum kit About: Anatole Muster is in the process of re-defining what the accordion can do, and is actively bringing the instrument to a wider audience. The most obvious sign of that desire to experiment and innovate is what audiences see at his live shows: he plays not just the traditional button accordion, but also two additional instruments: a Laptop keyboard, and MIDI-controlled “breathalyzer” synth, a brand new invention that he has co-developed with engineer Elio Fistarol. He is also building a global network of close collaborators with a wide range of musical leanings, from LA heavyweights Kiefer and Louis Cole to Tennyson from Canada and Matthew Field (Beatenberg, M Field) from South Africa, while also keeping a foot in jazz and fusion through leading bassists such as Hadrien Feraud from France and Federico Heliodoro from Brazil. Many of these important and formative connections have come from meeting people via Instagram messaging, and then discovering and gradually developing shared musical enthusiasms - “Internet culture shaped me,” says Anatole Muster. His two albums have seen a rapid progression and a strengthening of his musical identity: after the release of “Wonderful Now” in early 2024, Muster found that it was the sections where he had been boldest in experimenting that received the most enthusiastic responses, which encouraged him to go for “the sound I really want to hear”. So the 2025 album ‘hopecore’ is a veritable tour de force. He skates effortlessly through hyperpop, 80s jazz fusion, Midwest emo, plugg, Brazilian jazz...and yet the style, the vibe which emerges – uplifting, optimistic, making light of complexity – is unmistakably Anatole’s. He emerged in summer 2025 with first class honours degree from his time as a student on the jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music in London, an experience which above all gave him the chance to work with teachers who have mentored some of the most creative new voices in music, and who reinforced and encouraged his individuality. As Anatole Muster’s collaborations develop, a distinctive, expressive, and perhaps above all joyous musical voice is emerging, and getting noticed. His total streams across all platforms approach ten million, and the audiences at recent live shows – two sold out shows at Ronnie Scott's, Rio Montreux Jazz Festival, a completely full Jazz Cafe album launch... – have been “genuinely excited” by this “crazy talent”. Promoters and critics are noticing too: “His unique way of blending this instrument with contemporary and urban sounds gives the accordion a new lease of life, and adds a fresh edge to his music, sometimes taking it into pop, soul or electro territory.” (Viviane Rychner Raouf, Montreux Artists Foundation) “His effervescent playing really shines.” (Jazzwise). “He knows how to communicate joy.” (UK Jazz News) “He is just one of the most talented young musicians out there. I love his playing, his note choice, his production, his attitude, his choice of musicians—he's truly superlative.” (Anthony Garone / Make Weird Music.”) [embed]https://youtu.be/9b_u2fk6c-g?si=FeI8eLuyNAvgKp0r[/embed]
