Unter dem Projekttitel First Meeting treffen vier Schwergewichte erstmals in dieser Formation aufeinander; jede*r bringt eigene Kompositionen und Arrangements ein. Das Ergebnis ist ein Konzert von seltener Dichte: hochvirtuos, offen, explosiv und getragen von vier Künstlern, die seit Jahrzehnten auf den wichtigsten Bühnen der Welt stehen. Gonzalo Rubalcaba zählt zu den großen Pianisten unserer Zeit. Der kubanische Meisterpianist wurde mehrfach mit dem Grammy Award ausgezeichnet und steht seit den 1990er Jahren für eine einzigartige Verbindung aus afro-kubanischer Tradition, moderner Jazzsprache und pianistischem Weltformat. Chris Potter gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Saxophonisten seiner Generation und arbeitete u. a. mit Dave Holland, Pat Metheny, Paul Motian und Steely Dan. Larry Grenadier prägte über viele Jahre das Trio von Brad Mehldau und spielte mit Pat Metheny und Charles Lloyd; Eric Harland zählt zu den meistbeschäftigten Schlagzeugern des modernen Jazz und ist auf hunderten Aufnahmen zu hören. Diese Band ist ein echtes All-Star-Projekt im besten Sinne: keine Begleitband, sondern vier gleichrangige Stimmen auf absolutem Topniveau.
