Alternative Reality returns to the Nocturne stage for a new, dynamic 2-week series. The band, led by bassist and composer Jean-Luc Davis , takes audiences back to the 90s with a book of alt rock classics reimagined through the jazz tradition with a remarkable band: Jack Dunlevie (piano), Gabriel Mervine (trumpet) and Dru Heller (drums). Bassist, composer, and educator Jean-Luc Davis is an active performer in the Colorado music scene. In addition to leading his own ensemble, Jean-Luc plays with Gypsy Swing Revue, Adam Bodine Trio, Andy Hackbarth Band, Jesse Manley Band, Jayme Stone and the Other side of the Air, the John Kite Quartet, and regularly accompanies Wonderbound. Additionally, Jean-Luc has performed with Ron Miles, Shane Endsley, Peter Sommer, Art Lande, Greg Harris, the Aakash Mittal Quartet, Carmen Sandim Sextet, and the Matt Fuller Group.

Eirik Haugbro returns to nocturne with a burning quintet ( Daryl Gott - Alto Saxophone, Alec Streete - Vibraphone, Jack Dunlevie - Piano, Bobby Wiens - Drums) to pay homage to the great Christian McBride . The ensemble will be performing music from the albums " Kind of Brown " and " People Music ", as well as exploring off the beaten path works from McBride's extensive work as a sideman. Bassist/composer/bandleader Christian McBride is one of the titans of modern jazz - his music takes inspiration from piano trio traditions of Ray Brown, hard bob and fusion groups such as VSOP and Chick Corea, to the funky stylings of James Brown. Portland native Eirik Haugbro, has performed with renowned artists the nationwide and is deeply influenced by the great piano trios of jazz history, drawing inspiration from the music of legends such as Ray Brown and Oscar Peterson. Eirik studied the double bass at Western Washington University and received a master’s in jazz studies from the University of Northern Colorado. He has performed with Pedro Martins, Genevive Artadi, Michael Mayo, John Fedchock and Ali Jackson.

Led by drummer Andy Wheelock , this world class trio (Jack Dunlevie - piano and Seth Lewis - bass) play reworked hard bop classics. Rooted in swing, groove and undeniable soulfulness, Andy's performances always enrapture the Nocturne crowd! Andy Wheelock is a drummer, composer, and educator. Wheelock is an active performer and can be heard performing regularly around the Front Range. He is a founding member of the Live Edge Trio, the WHEE3TRIO, KEWO, and can be heard playing regularly with the Gonzalo Teppa Quintet, Ben Markley, New Stream Brass Ensemble, the University of Wyoming Jazz Faculty, and the Cheyenne Symphony. Wheelock has had the honor of sharing the stage with Adam Birnbaum, Steve Nelson, Bill O’Connell, Craig Handy, Ernie Watts, SK Kakraba, Jorge Glem, Bobby Shew, Chuchito Valdés, Joel Frahm, Henry Linarez, Bob Bowman, Ivan Trevino, and William Moersch.
