Greg Abate saxophonist, flutist, composer and recording artist who tours Internationally and spends 2 months in the UK playing clubs and festivals. Greg is proud to have been selected number 2 Alto Saxophonist on the Downbeat Magazine Readers Poll in 2022 and has been in top 5 for 3 years now! At the beginning of his career Greg played lead alto saxophone in the RayCharles Orchestra . Greg also had the opportunity to play tenor sax with the revived Artie Shaw Orchestra under leadership of Dick Johnson. Following this experience , Greg ventured out as a soloist or with his quartet to Jazz Festivals, Jazz Societies and Jazz Clubs throughout the U.S. Canada and abroad, including most of Europe, and United Kingdom. Greg recorded his first CD Bop City Live At Birdland NYC in 1991 on the Candid Jazz Label with the trio of James Williams, Rufus Reid and Kenny Washington. Greg has recorded 25 recordings as a leader on the Candid , Whaling City Sound , And currently Sumitt Label. With Greg will be the trio of Tim Ray , John Lockwood and Mark Walker who are also Internationally Acclaimed ! All GA sections (Main Floor GA & Miles Davis Mezzanine) will be seated by host and are first come, first served (other than where a reserved sign is posted to table).
