Keith Jarrett's European Quartet was a modern jazz group featuring pianist Keith Jarrett, saxophonist Jan Garbarek, bassist Palle Danielsson, and drummer Jon Christensen, active in the mid-to-late 1970s. Their distinctive sound, a blend of lyrical melody and free improvisation, became synonymous with the aesthetic of the German record label, ECM. It was and continues to be hugely influential to the sound of jazz and creative music. For this concert, pianist Chris Gestrin has put together a quartet featuring some of his great friends and musicians from Vancouver to pay tribute to some of Jarrett's unique and beautiful compositions from this time frame. With Jon Bentley - tenor & soprano sax, Jodi Proznick - acoustic bass, Joe Poole - drums
