"New York City-born saxophonist/multi-reedist Evan Schwam was a member of NEA Jazz Master Chico Hamilton’s Euphoria band for 14 years, during which they recorded 10 CD’s that feature his compositions and arrangements. In addition to Evan’s work with Hamilton, he has performed and recorded with other musical giants such as: NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Owens, Cassandra Wilson, Jon Faddis, Fontella Bass, Jaimoe (Allman Brothers Band) David "Fat head" Newman, Junior Mance, Arthur Lee (Love), Larry Coryell, Jackie Kelso, Arnie Lawrence, Arthur Blythe, Eric Schenkman (Spin Doctors), Bill Henderson, and Jeff Beck. Evan’s other accomplishments include being named as a semi-finalist in the Thelonius Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. Evan continues to perform internationally. “Evan, Jeremy, Nick, and Paul all were members of Chico Hamilton’s working band, Euphoria for years. Until Hamilton’s passing in 2013, they rehearsed weekly, where Hamilton mentored them and groomed them to carry the music forward. Touring the world and recording sessions all forged this tightly-knit quartet to where they are now and this group will be performing many of Chico’s iconic songs, as well as their own original music.
