About Bill Charlap
Charlap's official biography traces his New York musical upbringing and his early work with Phil Woods, Gerry Mulligan, Tony Bennett, and other singers and instrumentalists. The artist's discography then follows his development from small-label leader dates into a long sequence of trio recordings for Blue Note and Impulse!.[1][2][4]
In 1997 Charlap formed his trio with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington. Alongside that group, he has maintained a piano duo with Renee Rosnes, directed 92NY's Jazz in July festival from 2004 through 2023, produced concert programs, and led jazz studies at William Paterson University.[1][3]
