A multi hyphenate saxophonist, composer, and curator, he grew up performing in the Leimert Park community, receiving private lessons from Ricky Washington and learning from legends like Reggie Andrews, who helped shape artists such as Kamasi Washington and Terrace Martin. Kobie recently completed his undergraduate studies in Contemporary Music at The New School in New York City and is now emerging as one of Los Angeles rising artists. Join us at The Miracle Theater for his one night only performance of his debut album Nnamdi. Blending jazz, soul, R&B, and highlife, the project is a tribute to his ancestry, culture, and city, reflecting his roots and voice as a West Coast artist shaped by the African diaspora... Based in Los Angeles and originally from Iowa City, he has become a sought‑after performer across the West Coast and nationally, known for his warm sound, melodic clarity, and imaginative writing. Lasansky’s recent honors include a 2025 Launchpad composition selection from the International Society of Jazz Composers and Arrangers, the 2024 Bridges Competition – David Baker Prize at the Ravinia Music Center, and a 2023 ASCAP Foundation Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award. His debut album, The Optimist (Outside In Music), drew strong critical attention and introduced his thoughtful, narrative‑driven compositional style. Ryan Shaw a Jazz session drummer who has recorded tracks for Michael Bublé, Laufey, Seth MacFarlane, Jeff Goldblum, Caity Gyorgy, Graham Dechter, and many more. In addition to playing live, he can be heard on various TV and Film including the new Charlie Brown TV shows and specials streaming on Apple TV+. Ryan began his musical pursuits at the age of five on piano. By age 8, he began studying percussion and got his first drum set at the age of 10 eventually leading to him graduating from the USC Thornton School of Music with a Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies. He has studied with Jeff Hamilton, Peter Erskine, Roy McCurdy and many others, and lives in Los Angeles.

About The Four and More Band plays bebop, standards, and post bop jazz. The four is the quartet, the more is different guest artist each week featuring the finest jazz musicians and singers from the Los Angeles area. The band performs every Thursday evening at Casey's Tavern in Canoga Park. Great music and great drinks.
First Fridays at the Sol is where grown folks come to listen to live jazz, dance and have a great time. Our featured artist for July is "Trevor Ware & Positive People with Sidney Jacobs". Grammy winner Trevor Ware is well recognized as one of the most supportive bassists in jazz. One of the most in-demand bassists in Los Angeles, Ware is regularly featured with a number of bands, but most often forms strong bonds with drummers. Developing his love for music at The World Stage Performance Gallery, Ware had the opportunity to hone the craft of swing under the tutelage of master drummer Billy Higgins Trevor Ware was nominated for a 2019 Grammy Award for his contribution to All About That Basie and a 2022 Grammy Award for his contribution to Live at Birdland by The Count Basie Orchestra. Both recordings were nominated as Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album. In 2024 The Count Basie Orchestra won the Grammy for their recording Basie Swings the Blues. Ware played acoustic & electric bass on the Grammy winning recording. In 2024 Ware formed the band Trevor Ware & Positive People to perform many of Ware’s original compositions. Mr. Ware’s international festival performances include the North Sea, Monaco, Jazzaldia, JazzAspen, Concord Jazz Festival, Monterey, Toronto, Joy of Jazz, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Playboy Jazz & Montreux Jazz Festivals. His film credits include the Dreamworks film release Collateral starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox, the CBS series Smith starring Ray Liotta, and most recently a recurring role in Key & Peele comedy sketches. Ware has earned degrees from Cerritos College & University of Southern California, in addition to a graduate degree from University of California, Los Angeles. He serves as Professor of Acoustic & Electric Bass at California State University, Dominguez Hills. DJ Sidney Thompson will spin the dance music.
