Los Angeles native Chris Powe is an exciting emerging voice on the alto saxophone, blending modern jazz sensibilities with the deep musical roots of the city's creative culture. Shaped by the vibrant artistic community of Leimert Park and mentored by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Scott Mayo, Powe developed a sound that is soulful, expressive, and distinctly his own. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he studied under renowned artists including Tia Fuller and Gregory Groover, Powe has performed throughout Boston, New York, and Los Angeles, building a reputation as a dynamic bandleader and compelling improviser. His debut EP, The Search, showcases his modern approach to jazz while honoring the tradition that inspired him. At The Den, Chris Powe delivers an intimate, high-energy performance that captures the spirit of a rising generation of jazz artists.
