Das neue Album „Never Odd or Even“ wurde im JRS Studio in Berlin aufgenommen. Im Jahr 2025 erhielt Mathei Florea New Grounds die Auszeichnung „Estnisches Jazzensemble des Jahres“. website Mathei Florea New Grounds is a Berlin-based eight-piece ensemble led by pianist and composer Mathei Florea. A jazz quartet and string quartet meet here not as two separate worlds, but as one ensemble — moving between improvisation, chamber-music intimacy and broad, cinematic textures. The new album, Never Odd or Even , was recorded at JRS Studio in Berlin. The music continues the path opened by the ensemble’s debut album Snap, but pushes further into contrasts: dense and transparent, restless and still, carefully composed yet always leaving space for the unexpected. The album also features internationally acclaimed guitarist Gilad Hekselman , continuing a collaboration that began at Estonia’s Jazzkaar Festival in 2025. The ensemble’s previous album, Snap, was named Album of the Week by SWR Kultur and Album of the Month by Tallinn Radio. In 2025, Mathei Florea New Grounds received the Estonian Jazz Ensemble of the Year award. 25/20 € Doors open: 20:00 – Concert: 21:00
