Gypsy Jazz…this name elicits an immediate vision of Django Reinhardt (1910-1953), one of the greatest performers of jazz – a virtually illiterate, nomadic Gypsy by birth, who despite a severe handicap which left him with only two usable fingers on his left hand, made the guitar a viable solo voice in jazz music and is considered to be among the greatest jazz musicians who ever lived.
