About Peter Sommer
Colorado State University identifies Sommer as a saxophonist and professor who heads its saxophone studio and directs jazz combos. Its faculty biography places his Colorado work across mainstream and exploratory jazz, big bands, orchestral concerts, and newly commissioned saxophone repertoire.[1]
Sommer performs under his own name and in Colorado ensembles including the Ken Walker Sextet, Colorado Jazz Orchestra, Wil Swindler Elevenet, and New Third Stream Saxophone Quartet. The biography also documents duo work with pianist Art Lande and leadership of his own quartet.[1]
CSU lists four leader albums: Sioux County, Crossroads, Tremolo Canteen, and Narrando Historias. Sommer’s official music page adds artist-hosted tracks for septet and smaller-group projects, including Cedric Daniels, Shelandegins, Ataraxia, and Pushing Cubes.[1][2]
