About
Good Trouble stands as a profoundly moving testament to the late, legendary bassist Ken Walker—who passed away in February 2026 at age 69. This commemorative release encapsulates more than two decades of musical cohesion, deep swing, and post-bop brilliance from Colorado’s definitive jazz ensemble. The title track, “Good Trouble”—an original by Jenkins—mirrors the ethos celebrated at Ken’s recent memorial: an unwavering dedication to rhythmic discipline, musical honesty, and pure collective joy. Alongside his longtime bandmates—Peter Sommer (sax), Brad Goode (trumpet), Dave Corbus (guitar), Jeff Jenkins (piano), and Paul Romaine (drums)—, the album delivers a rich tapestry of hard-swinging grooves and intricate original arrangements. Guided by Walker’s foundational pocket and deep, soulful swing, this recording is a timeless monument to a giant of the upright bass whose groove permanently shaped the soul of Colorado jazz.
