Back to All Events Relax Attack Jazz Series: Dave Rempis / Bill Harris Duo + special guest Jakob Heinemann Wednesday, August 5, 2026 9:00 PM 10:00 PM Google Calendar ICS For this incarnation of Dave Rempis ' ongoing series of sax/drum duets at The Whistler, he meets up with longtime collaborator and ubiquitous Chicago drummer Bill Harris . Known for his across-the-map work with every corner of the Chicago music scene from improvised music to heavy metal to punk, Harris has become a crucial part of the DIY infrastructure of Chicago music over the last decade. Aside from his significant work as a first call musician, Harris also runs Amalgam Records and is instrumental in the alternative performance space Marmalade. He and Rempis have many years of history together both in the occasional duo pairing, and in their working quartet The Brunt with Gerrit Hatcher and Kent Kessler. For the second set they'll be joined by Chicago ex-pat Jakob Heinemann on bass. Every Tuesday and Wednesday, we present Chicago’s top jazz artists in a lively atmosphere, full of cocktail-shaking and spirited conversation. 6pm doors / 9pm show / 2 sets / no cover Tagged: Wednesday Previous Previous August 4 The Whistler Jam (August 2026 Edition) Next Next August 6 Heat Sync (August 2026 Edition)

FITZGERALDS SIDEBAR Presents: BRASS QUEENS Brass Queens is a female-led, New York-based brass band that has been dominating the brass band scene since 2019. Finding that they shared similar frustrations about the emerging brass band scene in New York City, co-founders Alex Harris and Ally Chapel came together to form a group dedicated to showcasing the talents of female musicians in a landscape that was dominated by male musicians and bandleaders. After debuting in March 2019, Brass Queens grew to be a fixture in the local music scene and was dubbed the hardest working band in town by their peers. The Queens gained a dedicated following through outdoor performances on the streets of Brooklyn and playing pop-up events in their community through the pandemic. Now, a core value of the band is to play for as many audiences as possible to increase the visibility of female musicians. FREE SHOW!
