INSTRUMENTS

Doublinszki and Price - Baroque to Bebop Sat, 25 Jul, 8pm Peter Doublinszki and Elsen Price present a duo programme where Baroque music, jazz improvisation, and Hungarian folk influence meet in a single, evolving performance. Works by J. S. & C. P. E. Bach, Handel, Charlie Parker, & others, alongside original compositions, form the starting material. Treated as open form, this repertoire becomes a shared field for improvisation, where Baroque performance practice and jazz are understood as parallel approaches to invention. Guitar and double bass function as equal voices in continuous dialogue. The music unfolds through listening, response, and gradual transformation, with form emerging in the moment rather than being predetermined.
