Career Overview

About Welf Dorr

Dorr’s official biography traces his path from Munich and Berklee College of Music to New York, where he moved in 1995. It documents work with improvisers, large creative ensembles, clubs, and festivals while keeping his own projects clearly identified.[1]

Welf Dorr Unit combines free-jazz spontaneity with funk and rock, while the six-piece Underground Horns draws on brass-band traditions, hip-hop, African rhythms, and other world-music sources. The official chronology also documents Funk Monk as an earlier groove-based group.[1][2]
