About Wayne Escoffery
Escoffery's official biography follows his path from London to New Haven, study with Jackie McLean and at the Thelonious Monk Institute, and more than a decade touring and recording with Tom Harrell. It also documents his long membership in the Mingus Dynasty, Big Band, and Orchestra.[1]
Alongside those ensemble roles, Escoffery leads a working quartet, helped found Black Art Jazz Collective, and teaches through Yale's Jazz Initiative. His Smoke Sessions recordings document both the quartet's established chemistry and a separate 2024 session with Gerald Clayton, Ron Carter, and Carl Allen.[1][2][5][4]
