Peter Washington

Second Floor Music documents Washington's move from early classical bass study into jazz at the University of California, Berkeley, followed by work with Bobby Hutcherson, Harold Land, Ernestine Anderson, and Chris Connor. It then traces his move to New York through Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers.[1]

The same biography distinguishes two long-running trio relationships: Washington played in Tommy Flanagan's trio until Flanagan's death in 2002 and became a member of Bill Charlap's trio with drummer Kenny Washington. Charlap's discography documents that working group across its Blue Note and Impulse! recordings.[1][2][3]
