Career Overview

About Doug Weiss

Weiss’s official biography describes a Chicago-born bassist shaped professionally in New York through work with Al Foster, Eddie Henderson, George Coleman, Lee Konitz, and other mentors. It places close listening and ensemble support at the center of his approach to the bass.[1]

After relocating to Berlin in 2020, Weiss developed his first album as a bandleader with Jordan Dinsdale, Béla Meinberg, Ori Jacobson, and guest Olivia Trummer. His official discography also maps a long sideman path through albums by Al Foster, Mike Moreno, Adam Birnbaum, Eddie Henderson, and others.[1][2][3]
