Career Overview

About Anwar Marshall

Paiste’s artist profile identifies Marshall as a Philadelphia drummer whose ensemble work includes Joey DeFrancesco, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Douglas, Orrin Evans, Russell Malone, and other leaders. His own site adds a separate path as a composer and bandleader.[2][1]

Marshall’s artist-run Bandcamp documents Cold as a leader release, while Smoke Sessions records his continuing role in Orrin Evans’s Captain Black Big Band. That combination places his drumming in both compact original-music sessions and a composer-led large ensemble.[3][4][5]
