Second horn. A different grammar.\n\nMiyuki Moriya’s first two named sessions with Fumio Itabashi were quartets. On August 17 she expands the idea: Hinata Ishii adds tenor beside Moriya’s alto, longtime Itabashi collaborator Takashi Seo takes the bass chair, and Yota Tsukada—the drummer on both earlier editions—returns.\n\nThe listening path is already rich. Moriya’s recent DUO Live at AKETA closes with Itabashi’s “FOR YOU” played by alto and drums, with no piano. A newly released Days of Delight film places Itabashi and Seo in free improvisation with alto saxophonist Masayo Koketsu. The Pit Inn quintet adds a second horn and Tsukada’s pulse to those open questions.\n\nDoors 7 p.m.; music 7:30 at Shinjuku Pit Inn. The second set is scheduled to stream with an archive.
