California saxophonist and composer Michael Zilber is described by NEA Jazz Master David Liebman as “one of the best players and composers around anywhere. Period!” The Canadian-born ex-New Yorker has 15 albums to his name as a leader or co-leader. He has performed, toured and/or recorded with many jazz luminaries over the years, including co-leading and recording in groups w Liebman, Mike Clark, Steve Smith and John Stowell, to name a few. Says ALL ABOUT JAZZ, “Zilber is one of the true masters of modern jazz saxophone, his prodigious talents evidenced by his recordings and live performances are truth.” Zilber has released 15 recordings as leader and co-leader, most recently Standard Deviations (July 2025) with Mike Clark on Sunnyside Records. His upcoming Recording “Another Sunrise” will be released on November 6th on NYC’s Circle 9 records, and is co-led with Grammy-winning trombonist Doug Beavers. He is joined on this performance at Keys by the superb members of the Peter Horvath Trio, made up of Peter Horvath on Piano, Dan Feiszli on Bass, and Jason Lewis on Drums. Horvath, Feiszli, and Lewis are first-call players of the highest order on the SF Scene. All are good friends of Zilber’s, and he has played and recorded with them together and separately on 100s of gigs and recordings over the year.
