Dialogues In New Orleans Hosted By Pulitzer Prize–winning Composer Tania León

About

Composers Now, the New York-based organization championing living composers and their diverse creative voices, brings its 15th anniversary celebration to the Crescent City with Dialogues in New Orleans. Hosted by Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Tania León, this intimate evening pairs live performance with conversation. The program spotlights three Louisiana-rooted composer-performers: MacArthur Fellow and composer-pianist Courtney Bryan, composer and trumpeter Steve Lands, and award-winning composer and violinist Sultana Isham. Audiences will hear an excerpt from Bryan’s House of Pianos, newly arranged for piano and string quintet; selections from Lands’ Draconid Suite, featuring pianist Oscar Rossignoli; and a work for string ensemble by Isham. Conversations led by León will explore the inspirations and creative processes behind their music, offering a close-up look at the breadth and vitality of Louisiana’s contemporary musical voices.
