About
Austin Traditional Jazz Society celebrates its 50th anniversary promoting music from the birth of the jazz era, from the heart of New Orleans through Chicago, and the rest of America. The third performance of our golden anniversary season features Swing Shift of Austin, in concert on Sunday, November 22, from 2 to 4:45 pm. Aptly named, the band shifts its musical focus among swing styles spanning the early 1900s through the 1940s. The group also shifts its instrumentation from banjo to guitar and clarinet to saxophone throughout the performance. Come and see the fun at Ben Hur Shrine Temple at 7811 Rockwood Lane, off Anderson Lane near MoPac. There is plenty of free parking at Ben Hur. The hall contains a large dance floor. Snacks, beer, wine and sodas are available. Patrons can bring their own food. ATJS concerts are family friendly. Concerts are free to ATJS members. Guests may enter for $12 and college students with ID and members of the Austin Jazz Society are $5. Season memberships can be purchased at the door or by visiting www.atjs.org . ATJS concerts are family-friendly.
