Mother Hubbard
The Bitter End in New York.
About
Mother Hubbard is a funk-forward powerhouse from Northern New Jersey, channeling the state’s famously relentless energy into a sound that’s both bold and refined. With a groove-driven style that blends grit and sophistication, the band feels like a musical love child of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Steely Dan. They’ve released several singles along with two live EPs, capturing their dynamic live presence. The members of Mother Hubbard met at William Paterson University, home to one of the nation’s most respected jazz programs. Nick Nella (vocals, guitar), Mike Bereski (bass, keys), Patrick Dudasik (trumpet), and Matt Tischio (tenor sax) originally formed the group as Wishbone before evolving into Mother Hubbard. Their jazz backgrounds bring exceptional versatility and improvisational skill beyond what’s found in most contemporary bands. They’ve since been joined by Mike SantaCruz (drums) and Jerry Ulichny (rhythm guitar), rounding out their powerful, genre-blending sound.
