R&r Jazz Session: Baba Andrew Lamb Trio + James Keepnews / Billy Stein

About

“In spite of a more than three decades on the New York City front line, saxophonist Andrew Lamb remains something of an unknown quantity. Over that time he has amassed only a few leadership dates, the majority on small independent labels...Lamb imbues his sound with the spirituality of late period John Coltrane, smoldering with a slow burning passion, bordering on the ecstatic, recalling his early AACM mentor, reed man Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre.” — John Sharpe, All About Jazz For the second Reason & Ruckus jazz session in November, we present two different lineups of uniquely creative musicians. Headlining will be the Baba Andrew Lamb Trio, featuring Baba Andrew (aka The Black Lamb) on tenor saxophone, flute, clarinet, and conch shell, Hilliard Greene on bass and Newman Taylor Baker on drums and percussion.
