The Bitter End in New York.

About

PERCY JONES PKT The genre-defying chemistry of PKT features legendary Welsh fretless bassist Percy Jones (Brand X, Eno), sonic guitarist Tim Motzer, and drummer Kenny Grohowski. PKT contemplates space, time, harmony, and melody unfolding them in profound new ways; it is improvisational at heart with big chunks of composition intertwined. This trio, distilled from PAKT, features Percy Jones’ innovative melodic sonority and approach front and center. Motzer, ever the atmospheric guitarist, creates dense layers of sounds and melodies utilizing multiple guitars, electronics, bow, and preparations. Kenny Grohowski is a master rhythmatist, one of the major drummers of our time, unfolding the equations and forms that this band unravels. Like a real-time research and development organism, PKT searches to illuminate and uncover new musical territories and pathways beyond yesterday’s electric jazz, ambient, prog, and electronic sound worlds into a new language. Masters all, the influential Percy Jones stands as one of the world’s greatest electric fretless bassists, hailing from Wales, and known for his work with his band Brand X, and masterful work with Phil Collins, Richard Barbieri, Brian Eno (Another Green World, Before and After Science), Jon Hassell, Steve Hackett, David Sylvian and others. Kenny Grohowski is an internationally renowned drummer with touring and recordings with countless John Zorn projects, Secret Chiefs, Imperial Triumphant, Brand X, Kilter, Felix Pastorius, and others. Guitarist Tim Motzer has an expansive discography and world touring history working with luminaries David Sylvian, Jaki Liebezeit (CAN, Secret Rhythms), Les Nubians, Ursula Rucker, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pat Mastelotto, David Torn, King Britt, Questlove, and PAKT among others plus his many projects & releases on his 1k Recordings label. For PKT, time is a motivating factor, Alex Skolnick’s intensifying schedule with Testament has pre-empted touring with PAKT, so Percy suggested playing as a trio to keep the momentum going. PKT is not to be missed.
