Durand Bernarr Durand Bernarr Praised for his genre bending brilliance and theatrical command, Durand Bernarr is a GRAMMY nominated singer, songwriter and creative force whose voice lives somewhere between classic soul tradition and fearless futurism. Often compared to legends like Luther Vandross, Little Richard and Rahsaan Patterson, his artistry is defined by vocal mastery, sharp humor and intuitive precision. During his ascent into this defining era, Durand was coined Rolling Stone’s “Artist to Know,” affirming his growing reputation as one of the most dynamic voices of his generation. Durand’s rise has reached a new peak with his latest album, BLOOM, which earned three GRAMMY nominations, making him the second most nominated artist in the R&B genre this season. Nominations include Best Progressive R&B Album (BLOOM), Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Here We Are”) and Best R&B Song (“Overqualified”). A tribute to love beyond romance, BLOOM honors friendship, self discovery and the communities that keep us whole. Billboard called BLOOM “a towering achievement...An album that consciously expands the scope of Bernarr's already wide ranging sound.” In support of the album, Durand made his daytime television debut on The Tamron Hall Show with an interview and exclusive performance of “Overqualified,” and delivered a rendition of “Completed” for COLORSxSTUDIOS. A 2025 winner of GLAAD’s Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist Award and a current nominee for Outstanding Music Artist at the 37th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, Durand’s cultural impact continues to expand, strengthened by his viral Tiny Desk concert in 2023, hailed as “a masterclass in live performance,” and his creative direction and background vocals for Teedra Moses’s Tiny Desk performance in 2024. His breakout came with Sound Check (2016), followed by DUR& (2020), a bold debut featuring collaborations with Ari Lennox, Anna Wise, and Kaytranada.
