Gary Sloan's Pedal Steel Organ Adventure
The Muse Performance Space in Lafayette, Lafayette.
About
Gary Sloan has always been a chronic multi-instrumentalist. Four years ago he started his journey on one of the most beautiful, challenging, and ridiculous instruments- the double neck pedal steel guitar. Most folks are familiar with the pedal steel in a country format- virtually everything you hear on the radio is on the E9 country neck. What most folks don't know is that the second neck, the C6 neck, was designed specifically for jazz by legendary inventor and performer Buddy Emmons. Gary loves both necks but is especially proud to be one of the very few who have the honor of presenting C6 pedal steel guitar. After years of practicing late into the late night and plenty of stage experience he has the skills and confidence to present the instrumentation he has been dreaming of- pedal steel and jazz organ! Dan Moran, another chronic multi-instrumentalist, is the perfect organ player for this project. He and young drummer Jaik Hakkarinen have some of the best ears around, they are both incredibly musical individuals- sensitive, explosive, lyrical, funny, and so supportive. The band is based in jazz and swing but goes all over the place! They are both art and entertainment. Gary Sloan- C6 and E9 Pedal Steel Guitar Dan Moran- Jazz Organ Jaik Hakkarinen- Drum Set
