Johnnie was later encouraged by friends and family to take singing more seriously. Johnnie being introduced to secular music attributes his love for music to the many great legends of R&B, Soul and Pop Music of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Johnnie using the substance of his sound, along with support of the many prestigious establishments with re-occurring performances, honors those legends like Teddy Pendergrass, Lou Rawls, and
