The Powell Brothers Band

About

The Powell Brothers Band is a quintet co-led by brothers Jonathan Powell on trumpet and Jeremy Powell on tenor saxophone. Both musicians have built extensive careers performing and recording with leading artists in jazz and Latin music. Together the brothers have worked with the likes of Eddie Palmieri, JT Taylor of Kool & the Gang and Arturo O'Farrill. Additionally, Jonathan has worked with Miguel Zenón, Maria Schneider, Darcy James Argue, and Blood, Sweat & Tears. His own releases, which feature Jeremy heavily, include Transcend and Beacons of Light, Sonido Solar with Eddie Palmieri, and his latest latin jazz outing Mambo Jazz Party. Jeremy is an active member of the New York jazz scene, performing and recording with artists across the city's jazz community like the grammy-winning Dan Pugach Big Band. Under the moniker Auterkeia, Jeremy has released his own music, exploring his talents as a composer, woodwind virtuoso and electronic music producer. Together, the brothers draw on their varied experiences and eclectic musical background to present a quintet centered on forward thinking original music and a unique interplay that only the bond between brothers can provide.
