Baltimore-based trombonist Marcel Penzes dedicates himself to the sounds of New Orleans’ traditional jazz and its combinations throughout the rest of 20th century American music. He’s the Strathmore artist-in-residence for May and brings his projects looking at New Orleans traditional jazz and jazz’s intersections with Pan-American forms like salsa, cha-cha, mambo and bolero.
