Jared Sims and the Catalyst Mad Monkfish Concert Series October 14, 2026 Led by 2025 Boston Music Awards Jazz Artist of the Year Jared Sims, Catalyst performs groove-driven original jazz. Jared Sims and the Catalyst Jared Sims, saxophone Rebecca Cline, piano Fernando Huergo, bass Jared Sims and the Catalyst is led by Jared Sims, the 2025 Boston Music Awards Jazz Artist of the Year. The group performs original music that honors jazz tradition while pushing it forward with energy and purpose. The band delivers groove-driven, thoughtfully composed music that blends Latin and funky rhythms built on strong melodies and deep interplay. Catalyst features Sims on baritone saxophone and alto flute with Rebecca Cline on piano, Fernando Huergo on bass, and Gen Yoshimura on drums. Currently recording a new album, the group brings a modern voice to jazz—rooted in history while rhythmically fearless and relentlessly forward-looking. They will be performing selections from their upcoming 2027 album Full Circle, which will be released on Origin Records.
