Amelie Quartet plays Parisian Jazz and World Tango Amelie’s Parisian Jazz swings to life with the fiery, acoustic sound born in Paris—quicksilver guitar runs, percussive rhythm, and melodies that dance between joy and melancholy. Inspired by the virtuosic Hot Club tradition, the music crackles with improvisation and the old-world sultry cabaret sounds of post war France. It’s hot jazz at its most intimate and electrifying, where our every note evokes late-night cafés on the Left Bank. Our Tango music is passionate and nostalgic one moment and spirited and lively the next. The quartet’s Tango music stems from the sultry streets of Buenos Aires and is fused with modern harmony and the rhythmic soul of World Tango. With sounds stemming from ‘high’ and ‘low’ cultures, our tunes range from the artful compositions of Piazzolla to traditional dance Tangos of Francisco Canaro and Anibal Troilo.
