Chucho Valdés 85th Birthday

About

A recently minted NEA Jazz Master, pianist Chucho Valdés has been a force in Afro-Cuban jazz for half a century. The son of famed Cuban bandleader Bebo Valdés, Chucho first made his mark internationally with Irakere, a band exploring the fusion of Cuban music, rock and jazz (and also featuring a young Paquito D’Rivera and Arturo Sandoval). Here, the master cuban jazz pianist leads a celebration for his 85th birthday alongside special guests saxophonist Joe Lovano and trumpeter Etienne Charles.
