Tap dancer Marije Nie met tabla player Tarang Poddar in 2023 in a unique project called 'Book of Premonitions', where more than 200 students from the IVKO school in Amsterdam were invited to collectively create a 'libretto' based on their visions on the future. They made texts, but also scultures and drawings. Working from their materials, the artists of the collective then created a unique, one-off 'opera' that was performed at De Doelen, Korzo and Muziektheater. In this collaboration, Marije and Tarang found a resonance between taps and tablas, which led to this evening in which they will explore the connections between tabla and tap in an improvised dialogue, after which Tarang will present his concert Jelle x Tarang .
