Austin-based Vocalist Elena Diaz brings her Global Songbook concert series to Parker Jazz Club for an intimate evening exploring the beauty, drama, and romance of French song. From the raw emotional force of Édith Piaf to the sweeping melodies of Michel Legrand, the program traces a musical tradition shaped by longing, wit, and emotional nuance. Diaz draws from classic chanson, French popular song and jazz, performing the repertoire in its original language alongside an ensemble of some of Austin’s finest musicians. Having lived for several years in the South of France, Diaz brings a personal connection to the language and repertoire, respecting the tradition while leaving room for her own interpretation. From Piaf to Legrand is the French chapter of Diaz’s Global Songbook, an ongoing concert series bringing songs from around the world into focus through artistic collaboration and storytelling.
