Grant Green’s groove, blues and soul. This quartet pays tribute to the music and unique sound of Grant Green, one of the most distinctive guitarists of the Blue Note era. With guitar, bass, drums and keyboards, the band explores the different facets of Green’s music, from blues-driven hard bop to Latin jazz, soul and funk. The repertoire combines some of Green’s own compositions — including *Blues for Willarene*, *Grant’s Tune*, *Jean De Fleur*, *Idle Moments*, *Matador* and *Solid* — with tunes that became part of his unmistakable musical universe. Rather than aiming to recreate the original recordings note for note, the quartet takes Green’s music as a starting point for a lively, groove-oriented performance, with plenty of room for improvisation and interaction between the musicians. The programme follows a musical journey through Green’s career, moving from the swinging, blues-based language of his early Blue Note recordings towards the Latin and funky sounds of his later work.
